The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) serves its more than 3,000 members through a number of vital functions, including valuable continuing legal education programs. Each year, the NOSSCR hosts the premier conference for Social Security disability attorneys and representatives from around the country. The NOSSCR celebrated its 40th-anniversary conference from September 11-15, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The four-day seminar on Social Security Disability claim-related issues began with a day of service.
As thought leaders in the legalities surrounding Long Term Disability (LTD) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claims, Elliott Andalman and Peter Casciano attended the event and presented on the topic of how a claimant’s LTD claim may impact certain aspects of an SSDI claim. The one-hour seminar covered important similarities and differences between LTD and SSDI claims. Complex issues in LTD that attorneys who usually handle SSDI cases must watch out for if they handle an LTD claim were also discussed. The session provided valuable information about how to leverage certain aspects of an LTD claim to help win an SSDI claim, as well. Mr. Andalman and Mr. Casciano offered their expertise to other attorneys for consultations and/or referrals when they encounter particularly challenging LTD and SSDI cases.
In addition to conducting the seminar, Mr. Andalman and Mr. Casciano also attended numerous presentations at the conference in order to improve their skills, keep up with changes in the law, and maximize their ability to win claims for clients.
