On Monday, April 13, 2015, the Maryland General Assembly passed new legislation enabling married couples who do not have any children, and whom have reached and signed a settlement agreement, to be granted an absolute divorce by the Court without having to wait the one year separation period currently required. The new divorce laws go to the Governor’s desk and, if signed, will be effective Oct. 1, 2015.
