The most recent statistics on OPM processing of retirement claims were recently released. The number of claims filed has slowed, at least temporarily, and the number of claims processed in a month has increased. So there may be hope that OPM will be able to process applications faster. OPM has been taking an unreasonable length of time to rule on applications. OPM has been particularly slow in consideration of disability retirement applications, taking in some cases 9 months to a year and causing applicants significant hardship, financial and otherwise.
