We have all received an invitation to respond to the 2020 Census by April 1, 2020. Most of us have had our lives upended by the Coronavirus and may not have responded yet to the Census. It is not too late. The short form that most received will only take a few minutes to complete. Complete it online. DO IT!
This pandemic highlights how critical the information provided by the Census is to communities and governments as they prepare their responses to this public health crisis. Census results inform planning and funding for hospitals and emergency preparedness.
Census data is used to decide how to distribute roughly 1.5 trillion dollars in federal resources each year. That money is critical to strengthening communities, businesses, and local economies. The money goes for schools, hospitals, health care facilities, and roads.
An accurate census count is the foundation of fair political representation so that jurisdictions can determine how to apportion seats in local, State, and Federal elections.
There was some concern that the Census would ask citizenship questions. However, that question was removed. The Census does NOT ask about citizenship.
In this time of heightened awareness of our civic responsibilities, we must not forget to respond to the Census. So don’t be left out.
Be counted! Don’t let your neighborhood, City, County, or State lose resources from an undercount. Make time to respond to the 2020 Census that each household was mailed. It is easy to do online and will likely take you less than 15 minutes.
Andalman & Flynn urges everyone to respond to the 2020 Census! It is not too late. Go online and answer the Census.
