Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) is Estimated to be 1.4-1.6% for 2014

Oct 30, 2013 | Disability Benefits Law, Social Security Disability

The American Institute for Economic Research estimates that the 2014 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Social Security benefit recipients is likely to be between 1.4 and 1.6 percent. Social Security COLA increases have been low in recent history as a result of low rates of inflation. This COLA increase is less than the 2.5 percent increase in the cost of medical care that is said to have occurred this year.  The COLA increase will affect Social Security Retirement beneficiaries as well as recipients of Social Security Disability benefits.
