2017 Mississippi on the Potomac Reception
Elliott Andalman attended the Mississippi Center for Justice’s 2017 Mississippi on the Potomac Reception on Tuesday night. The Center is a non-profit founded in 2003 by Elliott’s wife, Martha Bergmark, to advocate for economic and racial justice. At this event this year the Center honored attorneys Karen Lash and Tony West for the important contributions they have made toward equal access to justice in their careers. Both served in the Obama administration, Karen as the Executive Director of the White House Legal Aid Interagency Roundtable (LAIR) and Tony as Associate Attorney General of the United States, the Justice Department’s third-ranking official. Speakers at the event also included, Donald B. Verrilli, Jr., a new MCJ Board member and former Solicitor General of the United States, and Rob McDuff, a prominent Mississippi constitutional and civil rights litigator to launch the George Riley Impact Litigation Project, a ten-year impact litigation initiative with the generous support of Apple and the Emerson Collective.
